Menez a NO go !!!

Liverpool target Jeremy Menez rules out PSG transfer

Liverpool are set to have missed out on signing Jeremy Menez in January after his agent confirmed that the forward is willing to extend his stay at Paris Saint-Germain till the end of the season.

The Metro reports that Liverpool were interested in the French international earlier in the season and could have looked at bringing him during the current transfer window.

Menez has played just nine Ligue 1 matches for PSG this season, scoring in two of his five starts against Reims and Lorient in November.

According to the Metro, Liverpool had been hoping to sign the 26-year-old on-loan for the remainder of the season with the option to complete a permanent deal for the midfielder but will now continue to focus their efforts on signing Mohamed Salah from Basel.

‘Jeremy will remain at PSG until the end of the season,’ said Jean-Pierre Bernes.

Liverpool will play Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium in the Premier league on Sunday and will be looking to close the gap with Arsenal to three points who play late evening against Aston Villa the next day.

Tello almost certain to become a Red

Cristian Tello is reportedly close to sign for Liverpool on LOAN

According to the Daily Star , the Spanish winger is on the verge of sealing a switch to Anfield.

Tello has hit 10 goals in 47 appearances for Barca but this season he has seen his first-team opportunities limited under new manager Gerardo Martino.

The Spanish international was wanted by Brendan Rodgers last summer but instead decided to stay with the La Liga giants - signing a contract extension until 2018.
Tello signed a long term contract at the Catalan club that saw his release clause bumped up to £22m. He said back then, as we reported here:
“I always wanted to stay here. The coach has confidence in me, I’m happy and ready to play. I knew that Liverpool were interested in me, but I never thought about leaving.”
Back in December, Tello revealed that he could be open to move, if he is not getting regular game time at Barcelona.
However, he has become increasingly frustrated with his role at Barca and although the club want to keep him, they may come to a compromise - allowing him to leave on a short-term basis.
The Spanish international can play on both wings and his direct style of football would bring a new dimension to Liverpool's attacking play.

He would be a great addition to Brendan Rogers current thin squad.

Liverpool to sign Udinese midfielder

Liverpool to sign Udinese midfielder who is interested in moving to anfield

According to the Metro, Liverpool are interested in signing Udinese’s central midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu as Brendan Rodgers seeks cover in his midfield.
Badu has impressed in Serie A this season and is apparently available for around £7 million.
While Liverpool are in need of cover in the full-back areas, Rodgers is keen to bolster his midfield options with Badu thought to be a target ahead of the January transfer window that opens later this week.
Apparently Liverpool have been informed of the player’s desire to play in the Premier League, and are now planning a £7 million bid.
The 23-year old can play in both midfield and defence, meaning he would provide valuable cover in both positions, where the Reds lack depth, as Rodgers men chase Champions League football.

The Udinese ace admits there has been no talks between the two clubs but would relish moving to Anfield.

“It will be a dream come true to play a club like Liverpool,” Badu told Sportsxtra.

“If the offer comes and the two parties (Udinese and Liverpool) agree, why not.

“My wife is a Liverpool fan so it will be a honour to play for such a big club.”

Badu made eight appearances and scored one goal for Udinese before the winter break.

Liverpool agree deal for Salah

Liverpool reportedly agree deal for Salah

Basel winger Mohamed Salah will fly to Merseyside to undergo his Liverpool medicals and sign a four-year deal on Thursday. Fee is €8m.

Liverpool have apparently agreed a deal to sign Basel's Mohamed Salah when the transfer window reopens according to Sports Mole .

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers insisted on Sunday that no arrivals were imminent, but Sport-Express.ru. claims that the Anfield club have secured the 21-year-old Egyptian winger on a four-year contract.

The Egyptian ace – who has been dubbed as his nation’s answer to Lionel Messi – has been earning rave reviews for his displays this term, which include two goal-scoring outings against Chelsea in the Champion League group stage.
Brendan Rodgers is desperate to land fresh faces once the transfer window opens after losing a number of first-team stars to injury, and it is understood that a deal for Salah is close to being completed.

Rodgers is only looking to bring in players that he feels can improve his first XI and has been impressed with Salah, who scored in both ties as Basel did the Champions League double over Chelsea this season.

The fee in question for the Basel ace is said to be between £7-8m, with the Swiss side’s elimination from the Champions League having been a major factor.

Salah, who has scored six goal in 24 appearances this term, had previously interested Tottenham Hotspur, but now seems to be Merseyside bound in a switch that will reportedly go through on  January 2.

SAS is Back !!!

Sturridge might be back to partner Suarez sooner rather than later

Double defeats over the festive period has seen Liverpool drop from first place on Christmas Day to fifth place on New Years, but as Joe Allen and Mamadou Sakho go onto the treatment table following Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, a number of Reds players are jumping off it and will be back in the mix in the very near future.
Brendan Rodgers confirmed that skipper Steven Gerrard could be fit to face Hull City on Wednesday as the calendar rolls over, and though he wasn’t mentioned specifically by the Northern Irishman. Daniel Sturridge is also on the road to recovery with pictures coming out of today’s training session at Melwood showing the striker kitted up and ready to go ahead of an expected return to action by the second week of January.
Brendan rogers has revealed that Sturridge could be available for game against Hull City.
B.R. - "We will assess that in the next 24hrs. Daniel is ahead of schedule. He might not be too far over the few weeks. He was out running the other day doing straight-line running and he is now doing more multi-directional running and then training next week and we will have a good week of training."
"Over the next couple of weeks we will get those players back and it will look a lot brighter for us."
Daniel Sturridge

Three matches in eight days has taken a toll on an already thin squad, but the return of the likes of Gerrard and Sturridge, along with an astute purchase or two during the January window, could re-ignite the title charge that everyone even remotely associated with Liverpool is quick to talk down – or, at least, that’s the story they should be sticking to.
