Liverpool want England Under-21 Striker
Liverpool’s deficiencies at the front of the line came to the fore against Hull City last weekend, when the side struggled to cope without injured striker Daniel Sturridge and lacked any creativity or bite upfront.
According to reports in the Daily Mirror, manager Brendan Rodgers is looking solve this problem by making a move for Burnley striker Danny Ings. The 21-year old is a first team regular for the Championship outfit and has scored 15 goals in 21 appearances already this season.
Although Burnley will want to hold on the striker, they are reportedly in need of funds and a substantial bid from the Reds may be hard for them to turn down. The player too is likely to be tempted to make the move, even though he will mostly be used as a cover for Sturridge and Luis Suarez.
However, while the move may make sense to some, one feels that a playmaker should perhaps be first priority for Brendan Rodgers, since he does have the likes of Iago Aspas and Victor Moses to provide cover upfront while not having anyone to take the place of Philippe Coutinho.
Another problem with this deal may be the transfer fee, with Liverpool unlikely to spend big on a Championship striker.
