Liverpool Chasing Chelsea Left Back

Liverpool are reported to be lining up an £8million January bid for Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand.

The Reds failed with a bid to sign the left-back in the summer as Chelsea refused to sell, but the England international is struggling for action and reports claim they will try again in the new year.

Bertrand, who has only just penned a five-year deal, was expecting to play more after Ashley Cole was ruled out with a rib injury but Jose Mourinho has opted to play Cesar Azpilicueta out of position instead. 

Whether Chelsea are willing to sell remains to be seen but Liverpool could test their resolve by launching an £8million bid. 

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign a new left-back as Jose Enrique has been ruled out until February with a knee injury and a replacement is needed.
