Liverpool chasing in-form German winger
Liverpool are considering a winter move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Sidney Sam, according to reports from TuttoMercato.
Reds chief Brendan Rodgers is set to dip into the January transfer market in a bid to strengthen his squad ahead of a charge for a top four finish.
One area of priority is thought to be a top class winger, with the Northern Irishman not currently content with his options.
Sam has emerged as one of his major targets after a string of impressive Bundesliga displays this term.
The 25-year-old has netted seven league goals and registered four assists for Bayer so far this campaign, becoming one of the division’s most feared wide-men.
His fine displays have not gone unnoticed, with German national team coach Joachim Low having called him up to his squad.
Rodgers believes that Sam could link well with star attacking duo Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez and provide his side with a fresh threat for the latter half of the season.
Liverpool are confident that their relationship with Leverkusen manager Sami Hyypia – a former Kop idol – may put them in front of other interested parties ahead of a January move.
