Liverpool representatives talk all night to get transfer done

Liverpool representatives talk all night to get transfer done

Liverpool haven't given up on bringing more players into the club during this window if reports in A Bola today are anything to go by. The Portuguese outlet claim that the club have held overnight talks regarding the future of Tiago Ilori and plan to convene again to close the deal.
A Bola talk like the transfer is all but done and just awaiting official confirmation, but they have been known to jump the gun on these things more than once. They claim that Sporting Lisbon are just trying to finalise details such as bonuses for future appearances and achievements and also a sell-on fee which would result in Liverpool having to give the Portuguese club 25% of any future transfer fee they got for the player.
Liverpool interest has been reported all summer and earlier this month we said:
'Portuguese newspaper Record have reported that Liverpool scouts were yesterday in attendance to watch Sporting Lisbon’s opening game of the season. Record revealed the Premier League club was among a number of English teams watching Sporting Lisbon's 5-1 win against Arouca. There haven’t been any confirmed reports on who Liverpool were monitoring but the likelihood is they went to watch Tiago Ilori who in June was linked with a move to Anfield. However the representatives from Liverpool will have gone home disappointed because Ilori didn’t participate in the match.
A Bola reported In June that Sporting Lisbon will be only willing to sell the young defender to Liverpool for a fee over €10m after it was revealed the Premier League club had put in an offer well below the asking price. Despite Sporting Lisbon’s financial issues the club are keen to keep hold of the 20 year old defender and have included him in their first team squad for the 2013/14 season. A Bola have claimed the club will only start to go in to negotiations with Liverpool if a bid over €10m is put in, but they hope they can get nearer to €15m for the player.'
Sporting Lisbon's stance appears to have weakened somewhat as the window comes to a close and it could be that Liverpool predicted that may happen and have therefore been playing hard-ball with the financially struggling club.
An interesting new angle to the story is Emiliano Insua, who moved to Sporting from Liverpool in 2011. He's now transferred on to Atetico Madrid but the Portuguese club still haven't paid Liverpool everything they owe and any deal for Ilori would see this wiped off the club's debt.
It sounds like Liverpool have been working hard to push this one through.
