Liverpool FC Transfer Rumour Mill: Moses £1.5m deal, Borini to Sunderland, Sakho and Ilori at Anfield, Rooney out of Reds clash, Damiao link, Gerrard's Suarez plea
Brendan Rodgers to splash a further £26m on four new players
Liverpool are ready to agree a £1.5million loan fee for Victor Moses – but not if Mersey rivals Everton have their way.
The 22-year-old Chelsea winger is not in Jose Mourinho’s plans for the season and wants games.
The Blues are willing to let him go out for the season, with Liverpool leading the chase for the highly-rated winger.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is seeking a left-sided attacker so Philippe Coutinho can move into a more central role.
But Everton boss Roberto Martinez is also keen on the player and will swoop if Rodgers shows any hesitation in pushing through a deal (Mirror).
Liverpool's Fabio Borini is wanted by Sunderland.
Borini wants first-team action but is aware that Kop boss Brendan Rodgers is closing in on a loan deal for Chelsea attacker Victor Moses (Mirror).
Meanwhile, Liverpool will announce the signings of Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori tomorrow.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been chasing the duo intensively in the last three weeks, and now expects to sign all them before the transfer window shuts on Monday (Metro).
Wayne Rooney has been KO’d from Manchester United’s biggest game of the season against Liverpool — by his own team-mate Phil Jones.
Rooney, just back in United's side after failing to get a move to Chelsea, was caught in the head by a studs-up challenge by Jones in a competitive training game at the club’s Carrington base on Saturday.
It left the 27-year-old requiring stitches for a gaping wound and he left at lunchtime wearing a giant bandage to cover the prominent scar (Mail).
Inter president Giovanni Luigi has denied reports Liverpool have made an approach for Leandro Damiao and also confirmed there has been no recent contact from Tottenham for the striker.
Damiao has been linked with a move to Tottenham repeatedly over the past couple of years, but it appears Andre Villas-Boas has ended his interest in the Brazil international.
Recent speculation has claimed that Liverpool were considering a move for Damiao; however, Luigi stated that there has been no contact from the Premier League club and he is not expecting Damiao to leave before the transfer deadline.
"There is nothing," Luigi told Zero Hora. "Liverpool never made any offer, and I have never received a phone call from them (Sky).
Steven Gerrard has told Luis Suarez that he is too big for Arsenal.
The Liverpool skipper became a confidante for the Uruguayan striker when he was trying to force through his departure from Anfield this summer.
Liverpool stood firm in the face of a £40,000,001 bid from the Gunners that sparked fury at the Merseyside club.
And although Gerrard knows from experience how a player can have his head turned, having twice been on the brink of leaving Liverpool to join Chelsea, he does not think a move to the Emirates would have been a step up for Suarez.
Gerrard said: “I didn’t ever think Luis would leave – well, not to another English club anyway.
“I don’t want to disrespect Arsenal, because they are a fantastic club, but I don’t see joining them as being a step forward for Luis.
“There are only really two or three clubs he should leave this football club for if he is taking a step forward.
“If we don’t qualify for the Champions League this season he can go to Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich – and he can go with his head held high. The one thing I can assure you, it’s not about money with Luis Suarez.”
Gerrard added: “I understand we’re a little bit off the Champions League here at the moment, but I think he would ruin the relationship he has got with the supporters here if he went to another English club.
“I saw what happened to Fernando Torres. I didn’t want Luis to make the same mistake and that’s the advice I gave him. He’ll have another chance to move forward to a club that he deserves to be at.” (Mirror)
