If one thing has been painfully evident since he limped off against Swansea then it is Liverpool’s over-reliance on Coutinho. Like a beautifully-haired Brazilian pinball he links the two anchor players, the wide men and Sturridge with his movement and passing and controls the tempo of the team. Koke, after years of under-achievement, is finally doing that for Atletico, responsible for a goal or an assist in every game this season. No English club has yet been linked, but we think Rodgers has to bring in another player of Coutinho’s ilk to ensure he has the ‘two xls’ needed to have a tilt at the league.
