Liverpool FC: Rodgers reveals extent of Philippe Coutinho injury
Brendan Rodgers today revealed the extent of Philippe Coutinho's shoulder injury.
The Liverpool playmaker will be sidelined until the end of October after undergoing surgery on the problem sustained during a challenge with Ashley Williams during Monday's 2-2 draw with Swansea.
Coutinho, 20, went under the knife earlier today to fix the acromioclavicular (AC) joint at the top of his shoulder.and Rodgers has revealed that the the reason for the Brazilian's excruciating pain at the Liberty Stadium earlier this week was due to the shoulder bone puncturing his muscle.
He said: "He's only just having the operation today. The time scale is up to six weeks so we wouldn't anticipate any sooner.
"It's a blow as he's been in great form. It was the fall that did the damage. The challenge was clumsy and the bone came through the muscle. That was the pain and that's why the operation was needed.
"Losing him disrupted our balance. Hope he will return in great shape, it's just unfortunate. We have had a number of injuries at the same time and It's something we need to deal with.
"He is one of the best No.10s in the league because of his passing.
