Barcelona’s Tello Reveals Liverpool Interest

Barcelona forward Cristian Tello has revealed that Liverpool were interested in signing him during the latest transfer window.

According to the 22-year-old, Liverpool had shown their interest in him but Tello was never interested in a move away from the Nou Camp and the Premier League club eventually snapped up Chelsea’s Victor Moses on loan, the Daily Star report.

Tello proved his incredible potential at Barcelona last season, scoring seven times in 22 appearances but continues to feature mainly as a substitute with two appearances from the bench so far this season.

The Daily Star report that Tottenham were also interested in the forward but Tello insists he always wanted to stay in Spain and is ready to fight for his place.

"I always wanted to stay here,” said Tello.

"The coach has confidence in me. I’m happy and ready to play.

"I knew that Liverpool were interested in me - but I never thought about leaving."

Tello’s commitment to Barcelona was clear when he signed a four-year deal in August that would keep the forward at the club until 2017.

He will hope that Gerard Martino gives him the opportunity at Barca, although the array of talent available may make it difficult for him to hold down a starting role.
