Die-Go! Luis Suarez believes Diego Costa arrival will spark his departure from Anfield

LUIS SUAREZ expects the signing of Diego Costa to pave the way for his Liverpool exit this week.

The Merseysiders are poised to complete the signing of Atletico Madrid hotshot Costa after agreeing to his £21.7million release clause.

Atletico sources claim talks will take place between the two clubs in Madrid tomorrow with the deal all but done.

And that is music to the ears of Suarez who is desperate to quit Anfield this summer, with Arsenal favourites to land him.

Sources close to the Uruguay striker insisted last night: “Luis is convinced these are his last days in Liverpool.”

Costa is an obvious replacement for Suarez, who has been the subject of two failed bids by Arsenal so far this summer.

Sources close to Suarez also suggest he is considering a formal transfer request and the possibility of court action to force a move out of Liverpool. Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has made Suarez the north London club’s top target this summer and remains convinced he can pull off the deal.

Liverpool are talking tough in public but in private they are already planning for life without their star player.

Brazil star Costa is the first big piece in what could be a massive rebuilding project – and Liverpool have offered to treble the wages he is on in Spain.

Ambitious Atletico even hope to use some of the money from the transfer in an effort to sign Santi Cazorla, although Arsenal have no intention of letting the Spain star leave.

Meanwhile, penny-pinching Wenger has been accused of being a scrooge in his bid to sign Suarez.

Furious former Liverpool stalwart Mark Lawrenson has blasted the Gunners boss over his tightwad tactics to land the Anfield hitman.

Miserly Wenger has been told he needs to pay £50m for the forward and cheekily offered £40m plus a quid to trigger a release clause.

Lawro said: “A lot of people are wondering what Arsenal are playing at with their bids for Suarez.

“I’ll tell you. They are trying to get him on the cheap!

“Arsene Wenger bangs on about having money to spend but the reality is he doesn’t like spending it.”

But Match of the Day analyst Lawro – who made 241 appeqarances for the Reds – believes the Uruguay star WILL eventually do a deal to move to The Emirates.

He said: “I’m convinced Suarez believes he is going to be an Arsenal player. The evidence all points to that.

“Everybody knows he’d be quite happy to go to Arsenal – it makes a mockery of his moans about treatment from the British press.

“Does he think London is going to be an easier for him in that regard?

“Suarez is playing the game by not handing in a transfer request but Liverpool are handling the situation extremely well.”

Another former Anfield star John Barnes has warned Kop boss Brendan Rodgers he must flog Suarez urgently so he can snap up a new hotshot in time for the big kick-off.

Barnes said: “We’ve seen in the past when transfers go down to the last minute that it doesn’t help anybody, especially for a club like Liverpool.

“If they lose Suarez they would have to find a big-name replacement.”
