Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has landed highly-rated centre-back Tiago Ilori from Sporting Lisbon for £8million.
The 20-year-old centre-back is travelling to England with his father Kola for a medical and to discuss personal terms.
But it is expected the deal will be announced this weekend.
The deal between the two clubs was concluded at 3am on Friday morning with the player rejecting an offer from Monaco and interest from Valencia.
Ilori, one of the most sought-after young players in Europe, is set to sign a four-year deal at Anfield where he is keen to play for Rodgers.

Liverpool have made it clear to him that he will figure heavily in the first team this season.
Despite playing for Portugal’s Under-18, 19 and 20 teams Ilori - who was born in north London’s Royal Free Hospital - is understood to be keen to play for England.
