Liverpool have not given up on acquiring Ajax sensation
Having failed miserably for the second time in the summer transfer window to land a marquee attacking midfielder, Liverpool are reportedly ready to go the whole hog on Ajax sensation Christian Eriksen according to reports on TalkSPORT.
Liverpool had been in hot pursuit of Armenian star Henrikh Mkhitaryan earlier this summer, but lost out in the race to the highly rated attacker to German giants Borussia Dortmund. The 5-time European Champions then turned their attention to Brazilian attacker Willian, and were reportedly ready to splash out in excess of 26 million pounds on the 25 year old, but were this time beaten to the punch by local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who seem to have Liverpool’s number in the transfer market for the last couple of seasons.
With a little over 10 days left in the summer transfer window, the Reds are turning their attention back to 21 year old Dane, Eriksen, who has been available all summer on account of his contract expiring next year, but Liverpool have refrained from pressing ahead with their interest in him as he was not their first choice.
However, as things stand it appears the Reds will need to buckle down and accept that Eriksen could well be the man to guide them back to Europe next season.
