Liverpool close in on future England star

Will HughesLiverpool are on the verge of signing Derby County starlet Will Hughes.
As the Independent reports, the Reds are close to agreeing a deal for the 18-year-old, rated at £10million by Derby, and if successful will loan Hughes straight back to the Championship side for the remainder of the season.
Although only 18, Hughes was a regular starter for the side last season, making 35 appearances for the Rams.
Hot prospect
He has been regarded as one of English football’s hottest prospects since making his debut at Pride Park aged 16 and has since gone on to represent his country at Under-17 and Under-21 levels.
The Independent further reports that Liverpool, along with other Premier League sides Manchester City and Arsenal, have been tracking the midfielders progress over the last six months.
Liverpool, however, are the only Premier League side that are prepared to pay the premium price for Hughes.
Risky business
At £10million Hughes represents something of a risk, but Liverpool’s chief scout, Barry Hunter, is confident in the 18-year-old’s ability to shine at Anfield.
Hughes, unlike many players of his age group, comes with plenty of first-team experience, and Liverpool are aware that although his price may seem inflated at the moment it is likely to increase as the season progresses, The Independent further reported.
Hughes has already competed in all of Derby’s games this season and if his move to Anfield goes through he will be loaned straight back to the Championship side.
