Three Reasons Why Liverpool Should Snatch This Youngster From Under Tottenham’s Nose

Three Reasons Why Liverpool Should Snatch This Youngster From Under Tottenham’s Nose

Christian Eriksen influentianl in Ajax's win
Although Liverpool have made decent signings this summer to add depth to their squad, the one marquee signing is still missing. Brendan Rodgers knows very well that without one big signing or to be more precise a midfielder who can ease Gerrad’s workload and play alongside Coutinho with the current lot and guide this team to glory. But their pursuit of that special player has only meted with frustration with all three of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Diego Costa and Willian snubbing the Merseyside club. With just a few days left in the transfer window, this is the right time for the Reds to bring home that one player. Ajax’s Christian Eriksen is one such player, but the latest reports suggest that Spurs are heading the race. Yet we will see the three main reasons, why Liverpool should still pursuit this youngster.

Young talent

At 21 years of age, Eriksen is definitely one of the premier talents in world football right now. He has already proved his mettle playing for Ajax for the last three seasons. He has scored 25 times in 122 appearances for his side and has become one of the most influential players of the team. His long range powerful shots are one of his main forte and has the capability to challenge any goalkeeper on a given day. The comparison with Steven Gerrard is not without a reason and though he needs to establish himself much more before being in the same league with the legend, he is certainly heading in the right direction.

Central midfield problem

One of the main problem in the pitch for Liverpool is the central midfield. It is often that they run out of steam in that region and have to play the likes of Jordan Henderson (who although have improved a lot in recent times, lacks a quality to be in a title winning team). With Eriksen this problem will be solved once and for all and the team will have a world class player in the central midfield to boast of. This will also allow Phillipe Coutinho to play lot more freely and with the return of Suarez, this team will pose a threat to many top sides in the league.
